I'm sharing my stories at @johnscreekbooks on May 24th. Check out their FB event for more info, to RSVP, and come out for Storytime! ----- Join us for our inaugural children's storybook hour! Starting at 11am sharp, local author Tennille Bell will read from her children's picture books. "Ryder's Ride to the Grocery Store" follows Ryder, an expressive, four-year-old boy who loves going grocery shopping with his mom. He likes the many creative ways his mom prepares his favorite foods, but his mom also has some items on the grocery list that may not be to his liking, and he is reluctant to try a funny looking vegetable. His mom promises to be creative in preparing the vegetable in hopes he will like it - but will this funny looking vegetable become his new favorite food? "At the Chicken Nugget Farm" is a story about a little boy named Otto who wants to know; where do chicken nuggets come from? A question young Otto has for his parents one afternoon on the way to the Christmas Festival. When they're not sure what to tell him, he falls asleep in the car and has the best dream ever, answering that very important question! She will also be available to sign her books upon request. Come on by for a great time!

Right now, I am a HUGE fan of anything and everything Dick Wolf creates. Between Law & Order, Law & Order SVU (Mariska Hargitay is my “Shero”) and the Chicago Series (Med, Fire, and PD). What do you love about them? The writing for these shows is brilliant. They know how to make your heart stop, gasp and scream for more. The actors are amazing and some serious eye-candy (Tony Goldwyn, Hugh Dancy, Mechad Brooks, LaRoyce Hawkins, John Patrick Fluegger, Taylor Kinney….) the list goes on…. What’s your favorite drink? Simply, I love water and hot tea. I love black teas, Earl Grey or English Breakfast! I do drink coffee as well, but tea has my heart. I also love various dry red and white wines! What’s your favorite food? I love various rice dishes! Whether it’s a chicken and rice dish, an Indian or Latin dish. I love trying various flavors of rice! About the Author. Let's get to know Tennille Bell. About the Author. Let's get to know Tennille Bell. What was your first memory of reading? My first memory of reading was probably around the age of five. I remember loving all the Little Golden Books that I had along with The Real Mother Goose Clock book. Those were always my favorites. As I got a little older, my mom had a Highlights subscription for me. It was always a delight getting a new one in the mail! What was your favorite book as a child? It’s hard to choose just one book; however, one of my favorite’s was The Real Mother Goose Clock book. It had multiple nursery rhymes and the art and illustrations were amazing. There was a clock on the cover where you could turn the red plastic clock hands. I read that book just about everyday. Additionally, I loved the Berenstain Bear books and reading Highlights periodicals. Where do you write? Either at my kitchen counter, my favorite coffee shop or in bed! What was the biggest challenge with getting your book published? The biggest challenge was doing the research and trying to figure out the best route to go, whether to self-publish or do traditional publishing. There’s so much information out there and it was challenging to figure out what would work best for me, timing and what’s more cost-effective. I consulted with a few friends who had also written books and also consulted with a few self-publishing companies and I felt for the first book, self-publishing was the right fit for me. How do you handle writer’s block? I simply handle writer’s block by just taking breaks and coming back to the project later. Since I’ve just written children’s books, I have found it helpful to continuously involve my sons, after all, they are the inspiration for my books! What’s the most important thing you want readers to know about your book? Both books, Ryder’s Ride to the Grocery Store and At the Chicken Nugget Farm are fun, creative stories. The ideas for these books manifested from fun interactions and silly questions from my children! These books were written with love, vision and inspiration and the ability for me to be very creative and imaginative and just have fun! #tennillebell #rydersride #chickennugget
